Nā Kai i Holo: Oceanic Circulation

Students will focus their personal knowledge of and experience with ocean currents and integrate it with ʻike kūpuna (ancestor knowledge), through ʻōlelo noʻeau (wise sayings) and moʻolelo (legends), as well as scientific depictions of oceanographic data in order to better explain and understand oceanic circulation. Students should have some prior familiarity with the lunar cycle, resultant tides, and Nainoa Thompson’s star compass.
